Wildlands Restoration Volunteers: Forests - Cascade Creek Fire Mitigation

  • What: Thin streamside forest for use in building in-stream structures! Join WRV chainsaw sawyers in helping improve Northern Colorado watersheds! The increasing frequency of extensive fires has highlighted the importance of fire mitigation efforts such as forest thinning to reduce the probability of fire and increase forest health.

    • This work is part of a watershed-level effort to increase overall ecosystem resiliency to disturbances by mitigating fire and improving riparian ecosystems. Volunteers will later use the thinned material to construct in-stream structures in adjacent streams in the separate Rivers: Cascade Creek Stream Restoration project series.
