Little Creatures: Events, Activities & Art Exhibit

“They are everywhere. Some are small — microscopic even. Some are very large — wider than your head, bigger than your hands. Some crawl, some fly, and a few have even made a go at walking upright! Whether large or small, insects are fascinating creatures that have an important place in our ecosystem.”

Little Creatures: Reception & Opening Event

Dr. Sammy Ramsey shows you the insect world up close and personal that highlights our interdependence on these remarkable organisms. You’ll see incredible photography, amazing videos, and to learn how you can help keep the magical world of insects healthy for generations to come!

Dr. Sammy began with a fear of insects and over time, with a little coaxing from his parents, he went on to be a card-carrying Entomologist with a major appreciation for these little creatures.

Bring your family and friends to hear Dr. Sammy share an inspirational message encouraging the next generation of curious minds who share his enthusiasm and sense of adventure to fall in love with STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics). He envisions a time where diversity is so common in science that his appearance is no longer met with surprise when he headlines a conference. Dr. Sammy is an unapologetic advocate for equity, equality, diversity, and inclusion at the highest levels.

Melody Blauw – aspiring composer and performer – opens our program with “A Song About Bugs,” a piece from her new musical, “Happy Parts,” the story of a young girl's love of nature and hope for the future.
