Boulder Valley Rotary Club
Community Resilience
What is Rotary? Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders: men and women of all ages who aim to improve people’s lives by participating in projects that benefit their own and other communities. Projects range in scope from feeding homeless children to the global elimination of polio and are as diverse as the communities Rotarians live in. Rotary was founded in Chicago in 1905 and now includes more than 1.2 million individuals, who belong to 35,000 clubs in almost 200 countries around the world. Each Rotarian belongs to a local club and the clubs form the larger organization, Rotary International.
In 1985, under the sponsorship of the Boulder Rotary Club, the Boulder Valley Rotary Club received its charter from Rotary International with 26 charter members at the University of Colorado Memorial Center. The club currently meets on Tuesdays at noon, at Williams Village Center, 500 30th Street, Boulder and visitors are welcome.
Rotary is committed to building hope and improving the world through service activities and projects based on 7 areas of focus:
1. Promoting Peace
2. Fighting Disease
3. Providing Clean Water
4. Saving Mothers and Children
5. Supporting Education
6. Growing Local Economies
7. Protecting the Environment
Today, BVRC has approximately 60 members representing a wide variety of vocations and has raised nearly $1,000,000 for local and global charitable organizations and related projects. The Club has participated in world service projects in 12 countries; has sponsored exchange students to several countries; and performs local service projects to improve our community, many with non-profit partner organizations.
