Those paws were meant for walking, so walk for us!
Note - Recruitment is complete for this temporary opportunity.
Do you take your dog for daily walks? We need your help!
The University of Colorado Boulder and City of Boulder are recruiting 40 city of Boulder residents with dogs to participate in a one-week long study. Participants will wear a chemical monitoring wristband and clip on their dog's collar to help us learn more about personal and animal exposure to environmental chemicals.
Each of us and our pets are exposed to a variety of volatile chemicals during daily activities in and outside our homes. Many of these chemicals are safe, produced by natural processes from plants, soil and animals. But, we’re also exposed to a range of synthetic chemicals from personal care products to cleaners. These chemicals can be carried home on paws and fur and spread to other family members by indirect contact.
Your participation will help us assess the exposure that you and your dog are experiencing during daily activities outside.

Please fill out this google form.
We will contact you once we have enough volunteers (in a few weeks) to let you know if you are eligible to participate.
If you are chosen to participate, a study coordinator will reach out with specific dates and more information. You and your dog will be provided with a dog tag and a wristband, that contains a filter.
The study will be a week long, and dog walkers will be asked to walk a minimum of 30 minutes.
Participants will be selected based on their availability during the study period and willingness to complete the activities required for the study. The area of town where you live is also an important consideration to ensure that the distribution of study participants covers as much area of the city as possible.
