Wildlands Restoration Volunteers: Rivers - Sandman Stream Restoration (camping involved)
What: Build in-stream structures on Memorial Day weekend to improve water quality! After the Cameron Peak wildfire, vegetation was burned so heavily that it led to major sediment runoff. The construction of in-stream structures using locally-sourced woody materials is a natural way to help catch that sediment while also improving forest health and overall watershed resiliency.
The material that we'll be using to construct these structures will be generated by volunteer chainsaw operators during the separate Forests: Sandman Fire Mitigation project.
