What: Community Fruit Rescue is beyond grateful for the range of benefits our fruit trees and broader tree canopy afford, in addition to the sustenance (and fun!) harvests bring our community: forage for pollinators, wildlife habitat, carbon sequestration, water storage, cooling of the local microclimate, and more!
Join them on May 3rd to share in the celebration; learn how to care for your fruit tree(s) and enhance their understory. The session will cover meeting your trees’ nutritional needs, efficient water use, building resistance to pests and diseases, and how to be a good neighbor to our local black bears (who also love fresh fruit!). We will also introduce participants to understory planting techniques! Discover a variety of companion plants that invite beneficial species to your property for improved pest control, pollination, and soil health.
Looking to add a fruit tree to your yard? Our friends at Benevolence Orchard will have a variety of trees for sale at the event! Choose from 10+ types of cultivars, all carefully grafted in spring 2024 and sold in easy-to-handle 2-gallon pots. If you’re on the lookout for something special, they’ll have the rare Colorado Orange apple tree available! They’ll also have a selection of understory plants for sale—perfect for supporting your fruit trees and enhancing biodiversity in your yard.
