What: Explore how new scientific understandings of Earth as a living system intersect with cultural understandings, ancient and new. In this presentation, Martin Ogle, brings a 41-year career as a naturalist, Earth scientist and storyteller to bear in exploring how to see ourselves as Geo sapiens or Earth-wise humans.
Martin shares amazing new discoveries of Earth system science and discusses their implications for sustainability, especially the need to connect this understanding to ALL Careers of the future to create a green economy. He gives examples and stories that promote a healthy balance between human endeavor and Earth's living systems in areas including manufacturing, food production and landscaping, travel, and more.
A special feature will be “mini-vignettes” provided by a scientist, a high school student, a musician, and others to accentuate and focus on important aspects of the Geo sapiens idea.
