Keep it Clean Partnership: Boulder St. Vrain Watershed Art Contest

  • What: The Keep it Clean Partnership is hosting the second Boulder St. Vrain Watershed Art Contest! All Kindergarten-12th grade students who live in &/or attend school in Boulder County are invited to participate in a free art contest with the chance to win art supplies, gift cards, and for your art to be featured on the Keep it Clean Partnership website!​ (This includes both the Boulder Valley School District and St. Vrain Valley School District)

  • Submission Deadline: 11:59 p.m. on Friday, November 17th, 2023

  • Submissions can be:

  • All emailed and mailed artwork must include the following information:

    • Student’s first and last name, grade level, town/city where they live, school name, school district, parent/guardian name and email.


Artwork should explore the following prompt:

Our watershed is a complex and interconnected system of land, water, air, and the humans, plants, and animals they support. Each of these members plays an important role in keeping our watershed healthy and thriving. For this art contest, we challenge you to explore the role of one of these community members in our watershed.


Details:

  • Students are invited to submit one piece of 8.5” x 11” two-dimensional art using the media of their choice: crayons, markers, pencils, paint, pastels, fabric, watercolor, chalk, markers, collage, etc. – are all welcome!

    • Photographs will not be accepted for this contest.

  • Artwork must be created solely by the student and may not include any copyrighted characters or slogans.

  • For teachers or other groups who would like to submit several pieces of artwork at once please contact Cristina at cramirezbentley@bouldercounty.org.

  • Submission Deadline: 11:59 p.m. on Friday, November 17th, 2023

  • Winners will be announced by December 15th, 2023.

  • By entering this contest, students acknowledge that their submission may be published by the Keep it Clean Partnership and its partner communities on websites, outreach materials, or other publications.

  • One Grand Prize winner and one Honorable Mention will be selected from each of the following four grade division categories: Kindergarten to second grade, third to fifth grade, sixth to eighth grade, and ninth to twelfth grades.

  • Prizes are valued at $75 for the Kindergarten to fifth grade categories and $100 for the sixth to 12th grade categories.


"This art contest is a fantastic chance to encourage students, families, and classrooms to explore their local waterways, tapping into them for both education and creative inspiration,” said Keep It Clean Partnership Coordinator Cristina Ramirez. “In our shared watershed, everything is interconnected. Just like we rely on clean water, plants and animals depend on it too. They're as vital to this ecosystem as we are. This contest is an invitation for students to reflect on the importance of water, not just to us, but to every living thing in our community."


As part of the Boulder St. Vrain Watershed Art Contest, the Keep It Clean Partnership is also sponsoring the following art-related events this autumn:
