Harlequin's Gardens: Mushrooms of Colorado - Rocky Mountain Funghi (Level 1), with Zach Hedstrom
What: At specific times of the year, Colorado is one of the most mycologically diverse places in the country. Between our riparian areas, pine forests, alpine zones, ad other supportive habitats, mushrooms dwell in all corners of our state. Whether interested in foraging for wild food, or simply gaining an appreciation for our local fungi, it is crucial to understand both identification and ecology of mushrooms. In this lecture, we will discuss the role of the mushroom in an ecosystem, an introduction to mushroom identification and taxonomy, an overview of 20+ local mushroom species found in Colorado, and how to read both landscape and flora for locating mushrooms.
Cost: $22 per registration
After 7 years teaching within his local community about the wonders of mushrooms, Zach Hedstrom, founder and owner of Boulder Mushroom, decided it was time to fill the needed role of a professional quality mycology center.
