    • Drylands Agroecology Research works at the intersection of restoration and agriculture, designing farm ecosystems that sequester carbon, reverse desertification, and support biodiversity. This spring, we are planting 6000 trees and shrubs across 50 dryland acres at one of our partner properties, Yellow Barn Farm! These are a mixture of fruit, forage, and nurse trees that will help rehydrate the landscape, produce valuable forage for livestock, create habitat, and produce abundant food for humans. We are inviting you to join us for a fun, educational, and impactful planting weekend!

  • What to Expect:

    • Join Drylands Agroecology Research and One Tree Planted at Yellow Barn Farm for a full day of Earth Day climate action to plant 3,000 out of 6,000 trees, clear out the Lefthand irrigation ditch, and clean up the historic 100-acre property.

    • We will be planting PRT’s 5th BILLIONTH tree in an opening ceremony led by Nawang Khechog, a Tibetan flute player and student of the Dalai Lama. PeaceJam will be donating a Peace Pole to commemorate the planting, which will then be following by an Action Day orientation.

    • Drylands Agroecology Research is supporting Yellow Barn in the transition to full-fledge regenerative systems and holistic management. On this day, we hope to raise $50k to support DAR’s regenerative design work at Yellow Barn for the 2023 season through the implementation of water collection and retention installs, food washing, processing and storage infrastructure, and tree replanting and maintenance. With the support of One Tree Planted and our Boulder Community, we believe that this goal is wholly achievable!

    • Through our Adopt-a-Tree program and our on-site “TipTap” donation panels, you can help us reach this goal in a few clicks. Come out to the farm on the 22nd to come plant your tree in memorial, honor, and celebration of your own dedication.

    • We can’t wait to celebrate this important month of climate awareness and regenerative action!

  • DAR recommends bringing the following:

    • Appropriate layers for the weather (this will be entirely outdoors)

    • Closed toed shoes

    • Gardening gloves

    • Sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, or whatever other sun protection you need

    • A picnic lunch, waterbottle, and any snacks you may need (we will also have a Food Truck on site)
